Maine Marks Heat Pump Milestone Two Years Ahead of Schedule

In 2019, Maine set out to install 100,000 heat pumps in homes across the state — in 2023, two years ahead of schedule, the state announced that they surpassed this goal, a milestone representing significant progress in reducing Maine’s reliance on heating oil, lowering heating costs, and curbing harmful carbon emissions. To continue the momentum, Governor Janet Mills unveiled a new target: installing another 175,000 additional heat pumps in Maine by 2027.
